Uno card game is one of the most popular board games and has millions of players. Start the game with a group of 4 to 10 people, the more the merrier. What does an Uno deck include?
Uno card game usually includes a total of 108 cards. In which, the cards are divided into two parts: regular cards and special cards.
Regular cards
The regular cards in the basic Uno deck include 76 cards, numbered from 0 to 9. And the regular cards are divided into 19 yellow cards, 19 green cards, 19 blue cards and 19 red cards.
Function Cards
Function cards add drama and excitement to the Uno card game. In a basic Uno deck, the function cards will include 8 Uno Skip Cards, 8 Reverse Cards, 8 Draw 2 Cards, 8 Draw 4 Cards and 4 Wild Cards.
Reverse Cards: Reverse the order of the cards and change them to the opposite direction.
Draw 2 Cards 2+: The next player loses his turn and draws 2 more cards.
Draw 2 Cards 4+: The next player loses his turn and draws 4 more cards.
Wild Cards: The owner has the right to choose the color for the next round.
Instructions on how to play Uno card game, basic Uno rules
Each Uno player will be dealt 7 random cards, including normal cards and function cards. The remaining cards are placed in the middle and the dealer will pick the top card of the deck to start the game (clockwise).
The next player has the task of playing a card based on the following principles:
Principle 1: Play the same color or number.
Principle 2: The player plays a special function card (black) because these cards can be played at any time.
If you don’t have a card, you must draw another card from the face-down deck. When you draw a card that matches the above two principles, play it down to avoid losing your turn.
When the player has only one card left, he must shout UNO to warn everyone that he is about to run out of cards. If you don’t shout and let someone else shout UNO instead, you must draw 2 more cards. Continue like that until the player who runs out of cards first wins.
The Uno game ends when someone runs out of cards. Then the remaining players’ points are calculated:
- Add up the total points of the remaining players’ cards.
- All number cards (0-9) are counted by the points written on the card.
- Draw 2, Ban turn, Change direction cards are counted as 20 points.
- Change color cards, Change color draw 4 cards are counted as 50 points.
- The total points of all the losers are added to the winner of that Uno game.
- Continue playing Uno games until someone gets 500 points to win.
Instructions on how to play Uno, extended Uno rules
Double play rules
Another popular way to play Uno card game is to double play. This means that when a player has two cards that are identical in both color and number, the player can put down two cards at the same time to go home quickly. Note to notify the remaining players so as not to be caught when going home.
Combo rules
When the opponent plays +2, +4 cards towards you. If you have the corresponding card, you can put it down and the total number of cards drawn will be added to the next person. Keep doing this until the last person cannot play +2, +4 cards anymore, they will have to draw a total number of cards equal to the cards played before.
Note
You should play the cards with high points first. This will help the final total score not be too large to be at the bottom of the game rounds. Pay attention to the strategy for each turn to win.
You can also let the Color Change and Color Change function cards draw 4 last, although it is a bit risky. Because no matter what, you will win after saying “Uno”, unless you do not say it and are drawn more cards.
The function cards are quite important so you should use them when you can’t continue playing in case you need to turn the situation around. It’s best to play in the last few turns when you have 2 cards left to make sure you win.
